Clean up Australia Day

Once again we took part in the local Clean up Australia Day on the weekend.
I am always saddened by the fact that people still toss stuff out of cars and actually dump rubbish in the beautiful bush.
The DW and I found a place in our valley where some idiot has been dumping truck tyres. It took a few hours and lots of effort but we were able to roll six up out of the valley and take them to the collection point. These tyres were big and very heavy.
We could only cart three at a time in the trailer.
The remaining two were too far down in the valley for us to get out by ourselves.

On the Sunday three of our amazing local friends pitched in and with everyone's help we extracted the remaining two tyres.
Bags of rubbish were collected from the roadside.
It wasn't long and the combined efforts of the locals had three skip bins full.

I paid a visit to a near by truck driver and told him of the fact that "someone" had been dumping tyres on my land and how upset I was that anyone would do such a thing.
I hope he got the message!

Everything is growing so well

I just love beans fresh from the garden!
Have a look at the latest harvest!

The damp cooler weather has all sorts of things growing.
Our first Chestnut is almost ready.

The Choko's are booming and reaching for the sky.

My first lot of limes are maturing on one of our trees.

The Grapes have grown up the trellis and are now rambling over the pergola.

The latest batches of young chickens are learning how to fit in with the others and are enjoying exploring their new free range world.

Even the Native slugs are on the move.

I even snapped this rainbow after sunset, complete with the first of the night stars.

Flowers everywhere

The Red Bloodwood Trees are having an amazing season.

The trees are absolutely loaded in flowers.
The Aborigines used to make use of these nectar rich flowers to make sweet drinks.

Each night as the darkness descends the flying fox (bats) pay a visit to the large tree next to the Hut.

I hear them arguing between themselves as I drift off to sleep.

In the morning the ground under each tree is covered in a mat of beautiful flowers that have been broken off the trees by the Possums and the flying foxes.

In years like this when the Trees out do themselves with massive flower displays the mornings mat of liberated flowers is truly an impressive sight.

To see some excellent pics of these trees in flower visit:
