Building Project Update

The building project has been zooming along while I have been away from this blog.
The first fix of the plumbing is now finished. This means all the drainage pipes are in place to remove waste water from the kitchen, laundry and bathrooms.
These pipes have been hooked up to our wormfarm waste water system. The gas hot water service has been installed. It is the best system on the market and the best I could afford. It has a six out of six star energy efficiency rating. It is officially called a condensing unit as it uses the hot exhaust gas to pre-heat incoming water. Pretty nifty ehh? The unit has been plumbed to take water from a solar HWS collector that we hope to purchase later.

All the pipework that moves hot and cold water around the house have been installed. The gas lines have also been installed and have been hooked up to the bottles.

I think it will take a little time to recover from the plumbing bill I have just paid!

The other big advancement is that our beautiful custom made windows and doors have arrived and are now in place.

Laundry door and screen
Soon the door hardware will go in and we will be "at lock up". Lock up is generally seen as a milestone in these projects.

All the windows and doors have stainless steel fly-wire screens to meet fire regulations. The windows are all sitting on window sills cut from local sandstone.
I am currently busy finishing off the last little bits of flooring with a friend (more in the next post) and learning how to install gyprock!
